Special Edition, a new comic project from Myself (3!LL), Wordsmiths: Mark Rush, Chad Boudreau, Michael Colbert, Josh Wigler, and Letterer Coleen Allen. It’s been a hard year, and reassembling this little project of mine hasn’t been easy. The above named get an extra dose of Infinite Mojo for their assistance. Well onto some purty piktures.

Peace,

Eeeerp! I have to make a slight addition to the grabby panel to make it more clear, but yeah, happy stuff. I get to pencil all this week, so I’m hoping to bust out some monster battleness extravaganza. I submitted my stuff to Comic Book Idol, so here’s hoping on all that, and I got a copy of Big trouble in Little China on dvd two days ago, so I may watch it for the sixth or seventh time for more inspiration.

Updated with pages.

I was about to post two more screen pencils, when Photobucket decided it didn’t want to work. The full site is in the works, and I’m hoping I’ve settled on a speedier style with the pencils.

As for how this things is going to pan out, I’m planning on releasing a set of short stories to introduce my comic, Special Edition, for free online over a six month period. It’s anthology one way, and my own version of a superhero team another. So far in the blog I’ve posted the initial pitch sample, and previewed pages from “The ol’ Nickelodeon” and pencils from “Spak Dexler: Hero of the Ages.” Subsequently in the works are four more stories (with work by writers Mark Rush, Chad Boudreau, Michael Colbert, and Josh Wigler) and a couple of short vignettes, and hopefully more if all is successful. Simply put, I need to do more work.

I’ve put up a gallery and added some more links to people and sites I dig. Be back soon.

Spak’s pencils are in the can, and for a little treat, here’s a vignette introducing a new character, Sly Grennel.

Just a couple of screens of pencils. Should have posted these a while ago but I did not.

This long experiment into bringing my own idea to life is beginning to come to fruition. Yes the finish line is in sight, and beyond that is a lot more work. I attended the Pittsburgh Comic-Con last weekend and got a lot of good words on the pages I brought with. I got to talk to lots of cool people, and went to my first post-convention party. (Which Rawked!) Right now I’m illustrating a pitch for a friend’s submission into the Platinum Studios comic challenge, and all in all things are looking bright. Just have to do more work and do it faster.

Just sent out some pages to the letterer I hooked up with, E.T. Dollman. and I can’t wait to see what he does with them.

Aaaarggghh, I needs to do more work, matey.

Peace,

Two updates in the same month. Woot!

Things are going faster as we move into the next phase of things. I finished the pitch for the Platinum Challenge, and I think it turned out none too bad. Here’s hoping for an interesting ride on that.

Oh and I’m currently talking to another artist, a peer who’s been a longtime favorite of mine, about working on a story for this project, and he’s on. I’ve hoped this guy would want to work with me since I started this whole deal rolling, and now it’s happening, so all good things.

Peace,

The Musgrave Jam.

Right, hell’s yeah bitches, it’s infinite.

I talked before about a favorite artist of mine collaborating on Special Edition. I’m happy to say to all none of you reading this that Steve Mugrave of http://www.drunkensouls.blogspot.com is penciling a story with me on the inks. The story is going to be Frank Balon and Ogar v.s. a horrible Crick Hag. Don’t know what a Crick Hag is? You will, and most of those broads is hiding something scary, until then, here’s a sketch of the main character, Frank Balon, penciled by Steve, inked by me. Inked in Painter X.
