Eat It!

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Alright you dogs, listen up! God’s wet wrath came in last night and delayed the posting of the first comic. We’ve waited patiently to get the power back on in the illustrious Blankenship Estate, and are proud to say that the first comic is now drawn, quartered, formatted, form-fitted, boiled, mashed, and made palatable for your consumption. It can be read for free at the link below.

And as always, if you don’t like it, we’ll eat it.

Mergers and Acquisitions.

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Recent mergers and acquisitions delayed the inevitable for a moment. I’m glad, however, to be able to present you now with this three-page abomination, the preview for the upcoming strip, Slit the Living Voodoo Doll. It’s created and written by Jeremy Still, Drawn by 3!LL (with flatting assists by Jeremy), and lettered by E.T. Dollman.

The best laid plans…

I’ll be announcing some sort of schedule soon, but for now I just wanted to post this pic I did for the 100 artists project. it’s a thing that benefits hero and those type of charities, so at least I know the money isn’t going to scum and villainy.

To everything, turn…

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

I have a notion this engine may be starting to turn over. Just some final work to be done to trick this puppy out, and I’m hoping some luck falls into place. Schedule is already figured, and I;m literally just working to have enough backlogged and start. The new year will bring an interesting wind, so sayeth the meteorologist.

I’ll update this with some preview art soon.

Let us hope that this time we are full of win.

Stickam was working for the cam, mostly, but I’ve been doing lots in PainterX lately and found that it wouldn’t hold up. Ustream seems to be able to manage it, so I’m gonna test it out a bit, and if it streams well, I’ll pimp it.

We’re so close we can smell it.
edit: I replaced the Ustream player with the stickam one.

Yip! Jump!

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

I figure while we’re so close to releasing things on a regular basis that it’d be best if I get used to blogging three times a week. I had put it off yesterday, but today in trying to put off doing some actual work, I thought this would be the best distraction.

I’ve got to get cracking on another strip later, or maybe some colors for Special Edition. I’ve dived headfirst into working completely digital, and have been screencasting work directly from my computer on stickam and Ustream. Stickam was a crash-fest at first when using it with a screen recorder, so I moved things over to Ustream. Ustream worked, but didn’t seem to pick up as many stray viewers as Stickam, and the damned Youtube transfer doesn’t seem to work. (just checked it again, still hasn’t transferred) Someone told me they updated stickam, and now it seems to work, so I may stay there. I need to learn the ins and outs of video formats so that I can upload some hi-res tutorials on vimeo. I also need to get paid so I can but more memory for my computer.

I’ve been giving serious consideration to starting up the visual terror stuff again. I felt proud of that work, and at the time I had done it, being against our current administration wasn’t quite cool and popular yet, so I took alot of flack for the couple of pics I did. The whole situation was bad at that time, so now may be a better time to do something like that. Just got to find the time. I’ve got so many damned ideas for pics, it’s sickening. I’ve been looking into a couple of political sites that may be good grounds to grow those ideas.

Oh and for those that peek here for the art, I do have something to show. Just a little pic I did in my spare time for fun. It was inspired by Red Bar Radio’s ‘Rape Room’ bit. if you are unfamiliar check out http://redbarradio.com. They are pretty hilarious. Both pics are tastefully censored, as the uncensored version was apparently breaking photobucket’s TOS.

Pleasure delayer

Monday, January 5th, 2009

In light of some interesting discussion I saw on D.J. Coffman’s boards, as well as his “Host your own webcomics, Dammit” article, I bought a years worht of hosting from Dreamhost for Bohemian Zen rather than rely on free hosting communities. I’ve figured out the Dreamweaver enough to desing a layout and update, and with Chad helping me along with that (He’s got the skills) we’ll have the site up as soon as we can. We already have the backlog of pages ready, so we’re set on that front, just got a little more to go on the presentation. Mike, Chad, and Josh have come up with a little scheme that will give us great content beyond the comics, and E.T. is sealing the deal on the letters. As soon as the site is up, we’ll post a link and move forward from there.

It’s been a long time coming, to all the people who aren’t reading this, and we want to be sure that once we’ve launched we can be consistent. So far, we’ve only been consistently delayed, mostly because of this being a bit of a learning experience, and my now becoming familiar with the terrain.

Peace,
3!LL

Cool… and Serve.

Bohemian Zen is finally LIVE!

After over two years of misteps, misunderstandings, and misunderestimations, we’ve finally got this thing off the ground.  Take a look around, and let us know what you think.  We’ll be posting new Slit: the Living Vodoo Doll weekly web strips starting wednesday, and we’ll post the first two screens from Special Edition starting Friday.   Next week we’ll start our normal schedule, updating Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

We’ll be archiving the comics with a really cool Flash template created by the guys over at Ten Ton Studios, and you can see that in action as we’ve archived both The Ol’ Nickelodeon, and the 3-page Slit preview using it.

We’ll also be planning some LiveDraw activities, so if you’re an artist, you’re interested in Drawing, or you just want to take a look behind the scenes, you’ll be interested in what we’ve got coming.  As well, the Wordsmiths arew scheming to bring us more content, and we’ve a few other things up our sleeves.

Hope you dig it!

Peace,

It ain’t easy and other words of encouragement

Friday, February 6th, 2009

The posting of the first two screens of “Hero for the Ages” has put Chad Boudreau in the mood to reflect. He got involved in this project almost two years ago when he answered an ad 3!LL posted on digitalwebbing.com. Fueled by decaf coffee and the melodic sounds of Sigur Ros, Chad took time to jot down his thoughts. Check it out.

Soggy Corn Flakes.

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

A recent news story has prompted 3!LL to provide us with a history lesson regarding John Harvy Kellog. John Harvey Kellogg was a Seventh-day Adventist until the middle of his life, and applied his beliefs to the care of  his patients at the Battle Creek Sanitarium.  Here he promoted healthy living through techniques such as hydrotherapy, phototherapy, breathing exercises, and… well pumping yogurt into patient’s butts, apparently.  He also advocated a “plain and healthy diet”, consisting of very little meat (if any), and the avoidance of stimulating food and drink.
